Why did you have to add the synth? It really takes away from the grunge and turns it in to something that completely perverts the genre. This song would have been stronger without the choice of synth you made. Definitely add vocals and re upload this song.

Thanks for the review. I agree, I think this song would be a lot better with vocals but I should have mentioned the reason I used synths is because my singing voice is very average. I don't have the tone or vocal range to sing this song the way i'd like it to be sung and I don't know any good singers i can work with yet... i'm looking.. in fact trying to start a band.. but that's a whole other thing. Think of this as a sort of demo track. Also I will admit the synths do take away from the grunge a fair bit but I did want the song to be a bit weird in some ways like with the synth pedal effect on the lead guitar in the solo, so it's not your traditional sort of grunge in that sense. I really would love to re-upload this song with vocals... hopefully someday.

The intro to the song is very hard to listen to. You need to work on the syncopation and maybe invest/find better VST. The song does pick up a little, with a generic but fitting drum beat. I see potential though, keep it up!

Thank you.... I am using FL studio 11 but its hard to use, as I'm really new into mixing and stuff...
Thanks for seeing potential in me :) I do play the keyboard so thats why I know the notes etc.

Thanks for your feedback!!!

This is literally just Frank Sinatra. Please remove this song or you will be reported.

This is a nice song. I found the piano maybe just a tad too hollow. Also it felt like you could have introduced your higher register instruments a bit earlier in to the song. It feels like I have to drag myself along to the climax.

Still a great piece though, when the climax does arrive, it is well done and nicely composed. Keep it up!

Thonz responds:

Thanks, I really appreciate the feedback! :) And thank you for the scout as well.

Your song is way too busy. You need to work on equalization and mastering your works!

3DRealms responds:

You are a disease. I am the cure.

Your music sounds very hollow. You need to add some lower register instruments as well to give it a fuller sound. Also very repetitive try and modulate or change the melody. A good start though.

Have to love that retro sound, the nostalgia is pumping.

I still feel even though these songs are supposed to be reminiscent of the 80's synth, that you are no longer making these songs your own. You need to add your own flare. Still, strong pieces though. I'm sure whatever flavour you add to your music will emerge as you continue to release more pieces.

Reminiscent of Power Glove. Love it.

My only criticism is that I feel you could have developed the song in to something with a bit more intensity, not for it's entirety but at least a stronger climax. Still, you hit the 80's nail right on the head, job well done.

Thanks alot man!

I bet you'll find something you like there.

A pretty cool use of reverb. If you wanted to give the feeling of space in a 2 dimensional world this song would certainly serve that purpose. I believe I may hear a rock organ which is always awesome. Always.

You've got a pretty cool feel to the song, almost funky/bluesy at times. I'd say you could still work on developing a more wholesome melody but that is because I'm thinking of a standalone work. I think in a video game this could fit very well.

The voice sampling you have, or if recorded by you, is amazing. You used it very appropriately. However, I think your melody and choice of instruments following is very weak. You introduced such a lovely mini aria only to have it spat on by what sounds like PS1 synth. The percussion though is nice and I like the the way you use it to end the piece. I think you have a lot of potential though and it is only my opinion and you need not follow it, but definitely stray away from those synth and maybe lean more towards orchestral VST like EWQL.

I compose music as a hobby and I study math and science. My aspiration musically is to make an orchestral score for a video game, my scholarly aspirations are to develop effective models/algorithms. I am also fond of the wristwatch. Feel free to PM.
