Dig the tune, but what happened to baroque?

You can't just simply "stray" from baroque. Unless you are a quitter.

I will be monitoring you much more closely now.

Don't stray from the bray!

....oque...?

cantinera responds:

D:
I WILL GO BACK TO BAROQUE. You never really leave baroque. I'm working on a simplistic melody right now AND AM USING CHORD PROGRESSION SIMILAR TO BAROQUE.
I shall not fail you!

Soon enough a greaser will slide in on his knees in a red and blue outfit singing about a princess he met and lost.

(and he'll ride around in his green japanese muscle car)

blackrose96 responds:

Probably while he's at a drive-in diner or singing at a state fair. I'm glad the Ritchie Valens influence really shows! Thanks for the kind words!

I love standalone harp. Like a piano I believe the harp can invoke a full range of emotion in people, it can be as powerful and as soft as it needs to be and as uplifting and as downfallen as it wants to be. Great piece.

AzureDragonFlame responds:

Haha! My sentiments exactly. I absolutely adore the harp as a musical instrument.

I've always wanted to compose a music box song haven't gotten - or maybe even bothered to look if I had - the right samples. I know you said you left out the dynamics, but to be honest, music boxes aren't very dynamic. By leaving them out you've stayed true to sound of a music box. The only thing that bothered me was the lower notes, they sounded really... wet or something, that's just me though. Its inspired me to maybe put some time in to a music box song over the weekend though so kudos to you on that one!

Definitely dig the string work. Would have been cool if you contrasted the strings with piano or harpsichord, or if not that a deeper string, either low range cello or double bass would have sounded amazing. The only issue with the arrangement is the really quick and awkward transition from string immediately to piano, but overall I still really enjoyed the piece, good job!

InfiniteHarmonyMusic responds:

Hey thanks for the listen and review! Yeah. I really wanted to feature a cello in the main melody but unfortunately I didn't have any good cello VSTs to work with, so I just stuck with a low string harmonic line.

Lol, you are spamming with too many like my fb songs. Some good tunes though.

TBM responds:

I hope you guys see what I'm getting at, haha

900 Bytes. Just LOL.

Awesome song.

Loved the deep strings, up down, up down, deep brass, then the contrasting higher strings come in, some nice percussion. Then the sickest part the italian guitar strumming. (I just call it that because of the Godfather), Very European all the same :)

The pizzicato strings I dig too then the funky spook all of a sudden at the end. Kick ass job.

Gotta love those deep piano chords. It would sound loads better if you got less synthy brass and strings. Although I still like the whole atmosphere of the song. Very regal sounding to me. Well done.

nexxyz responds:

Thanks for the feedback! As mentioned in the description, I used the free Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra for all the instruments, so I left myself little choice there :-)

Any recommendations on free, more realistic sounding brass & string collections I could use for those instead?

I liked the ambient sound switch to the piano. The melody is very soothing, thew few hard hit notes give some power to the song; more feeling. Then the switch back to the ambient sound. I felt that this song would have ended better with piano only or with both the synth + piano. Still a decent ending though. Great job!

I compose music as a hobby and I study math and science. My aspiration musically is to make an orchestral score for a video game, my scholarly aspirations are to develop effective models/algorithms. I am also fond of the wristwatch. Feel free to PM.
